La Grange Public Library - part 2

I'm going to continue my visual tour of the La Grange Public Library today, but I'm going to spend most of this time staring at graphic novel spines. Because I was quite impressed with their collections!

Here I am, standing in front of the children's graphic novel section, and you can see those shelves are bursting!
The Batman Adventures series from the 1990s (based on the animated series) consisted of some of the best Batman stories ever, many of them graced with the incredibly sleek art of Mike Parobeck. I was so glad to see them represented here, and wish I saw them at more libraries!
Every children's section needs Art Baltazar books, and here's a great run of both Aw Yeah Comics and Tiny Titans, as well as something newer that I loved, Encounter!
And the goodness just keeps going! Fraggle Rock? All of Tintin? Yes, please!
Whew...went upstairs for a break. Here's the view from the top of the stairs. Note the handbaskets for collecting books in, adding to the feeling of a shopping experience I mentioned last time (when I said the lobby looks like a bookstore).
In the corner is the YA Department and, while it's got a door for closing the teens off, at least it was being left open when I came.

I also really like how clear that signage is.
The inside of YA was neat and uncluttered, with an attractive games display -- although I might just be biased because I like that ninja cat on top?
"Such a beautiful day! Think I'll look outside...oh yeah, there's an anime night coming up! Thanks, window ads!"

By the way, I like both the idea of an anime night and a teen writer's studio!

And we wrap up, today, by the upstairs graphic novel collection, which you can see has yet another healthy share of Batman volumes! This one came out particularly blurry, but the spines in the middle belong to the Batman Chronicles, a great softcover series that reprinted the early Batman stories -- once spread out through three different comic book titles -- all in chronological order.
