Still sharing more photos from Warrenville today! I thought this reading corner was lovely, with the understated fireplace balanced against the frosted glass, the muted colors, the variety of seating choices, and the abundance of natural light.
This is the entrance to the children's area, with the tree-pillars serving as a nice boundary and suggesting you are about to enter another realm.
The children's department runs deep, reminding me of how the children's dept. at Poplar Creek Public Library got more space than any other department.
And it just keeps going! We are now standing at the far background of the previous photo, and you can see that there's a whole playroom past it. The dedicated Ipads with pre-loaded games also reminded me of PCPL.
Children's even has its own study rooms.
The building may be new-ish, but the district has been around since 1979, as I discovered here by the back entrance.
Looking back, from the back entrance, into the library. It's interesting how reversed the whole building is. Coming in from the parking lot, you see a small basement room; coming in from the street, you get this more traditional first look at the library. It's like they planned the building layout first, then accidentally built the parking lot on the wrong side...
And lastly, I thought this was a nice touch over the back exit; a touch of beauty in an otherwise anti-climactic exit (which wasn't actually as dark as this photo makes it appear).
