Roselle Public Library - part 3

Last day at the Roselle Public Library! I'm up here on the upper level looking over the Children's section. Here I see some places for the young to play, and right next to the restrooms so it's easy for Mom or Dad to wash their hands before they play!
This is the Barrier Wall that went up during construction, blocking off where the computer center normally is. You can also see, cut off at the bottom, how many carts of books were displaced by the project.
Here is the temporary home of the computer center, and this proved to be one of the more interesting stories I heard about construction. Apparently, there used to be a big shelving unit here. When this space was needed, the books that were on the big shelving unit were moved to two smaller shelving units. It turned out, everything fit and looked nice on the two smaller units, and even combined they took up less space than the one big one. So the big one is out, the books will remain on the two smaller units (not shown here), and no one would have thought to do this had construction not forced departments to get creative with their shelving.

I can't not take a picture of a graphic novels section, so here is the one in Children's.  It had a good selection of Art Baltazar titles. I personally don't think any Children's graphic novel section is complete without Owly and Johnny Boo (hopefully they were all checked out!), and I only saw one book I would question if it belonged in YA instead.

[Update: Shame -- great SHAME -- upon me for having written this without double-checking their catalog first. Sure enough, both Johnny Boo and Owly are represented. And, not only that, but Johnny Boo is represented by all nine volumes! Way to go, Roselle!]
Here's a sample of the natural lighting the Children's Department will enjoy once the Barrier Wall comes down.
And, if you were wondering where the Children's magazines were this whole time, this sign will solve that for you. I am sure that Children's is going to love having this shelving unit back!
