Arcola Public Library - part 1

I have a real weak spot for the lovely little town of Arcola; I have only been there three times, but enjoyed every visit. This time, I visited the Arcola Public Library for the first time!

As impressive as this entrance looks, this is just the side entrance! The main entrance is around the corner to the right and is the original section of the library (the rest is all addition).
I don't remember what that sign says and I can't make it out now, so I can't say what the log cabin next door is used for. But I really like the look of it next to the library, and especially the old-fashioned hitching posts at the sidewalk!
This is the meeting room on the lower level, and the back wall showcases Arcola's main claim to fame, being the birthplace of Raggedy Ann and Andy.
This is the downstairs YA corner -- they get a corner of the Children's room to themselves. Not very fair, perhaps, but then it is a small library.

I always like seeing rocking chairs in libraries.
The plaque details how modern the addition is, though it doesn't look modern on the outside (that would definitely clash with the original building, which is a Carnegie library).
This is a display case of rare books and items owned by the library.
This is inside the main entrance, looking through a side arch into the reading room.
This is facing the main entrance, and you can see how beautiful the wall moldings are here. I'm not sure why the display faces inwards instead of towards the doors, unless most locals use the side entrance like we did.
More of the front room, with an arch leading into a research room and a shallow alcove holding a statuette. It felt like being in a museum, even though it had fewer artifacts on display than the Coal City Public Library.
