There's a lot to discuss in this seemingly innocuous corner of BAPL. One is the locker area where game consoles are stored. Two is the (admittedly somewhat meager) game collection. But three is the collection of textbooks. My last library would never collect school textbooks, but here they have a full shelf of them. I wonder how current they are...I didn't think to check.
This is upstairs now. No, it's not a restaurant area; those booths are some of the seating around the YA corner. Note how teens are not closed in by walls at this library!
All those books down the row that have blue stickers on them are book club books. It's literally a "build your own book club" area, with enough copies of every title to support even a big group of friends.
These next few pictures illustrate BAPL's practice of crooked shelving units, instead of straight rows. I believe it is to make the collection look more dynamic.
I once talked to someone there about if it was harder to vacuum the crooked aisles and I was told no.
The view outside the back windows. As you can kind of see, the landscaping is terraced so that it is almost ground level outside this window, even though this is the upper level.
And, as we say good-bye to BAPL, Creepy Robot Scarecrow waves back, as if to say, "Adieu! Au revoir!"
