Barrington Area Public Library - part 1

For a library not in my immediate area, I do seem to spend an unusual amount of time at the Barrington Area Public Library (I'm not sure why the entrance came out looking so dark here; maybe it's because of that dark cloud overhead). Maybe it's because they include me in a lot of their programming including (plug, plug) their annual comic con and next month's media fair (Sep. 23!).
I love the woodwork in their entry way. It makes the library look like a wooden cathedral!
And what's not to love about environmentally friendly sort bins for garbage/recycling?

I don't particularly care for the "art" installations in the entrance, as their only purpose seems to be obscuring the intricate pattern of buttresses.
A sort of cafe area behind the circ department, where rotating artists galleries are always on display.
It's not clear to me where you're allowed to take food from these corner vending machines -- just back to the cafe-like area, or anywhere in the library? I could find no signage explaining.
Here's where the ground floor splits, with Youth Services clearly spelled out on the left and, ahead to the right, being an unmarked general technology/meeting room area.

Notice they still have lots of audiobooks!
3D printers on display up front, with a standing computer lab area behind them.
There's always something exciting to look at in the library. This bright orange arch-couch doesn't look that inviting to sit on, but it sure divides up the space. I think I just invented the word arch-couch!
