College of DuPage Library - part 1

No bias here. Just because my son might be going here in the Fall?

I have not been in the COD Library in quite some time (I mean, YEARS), so I was really surprised by the layout. The downstairs entrance is so spacious!  I wonder if they hold dances in this space. This is during the summer classes and orientation for the Fall, so I don't have a good sense for how full this area gets.

Hanging folders for newspapers!  Boy, I haven't seen those in too long. It is refreshing, in libraries where everything seems so hi-tech and new to stop and see some aspects of old traditions still in use.  There was so much that was charmingly nostalgic here...

A typewriter -- in the public area!

No less than three old-fashioned mechanical microform readers! (sadly needing dust covers on all of them)

Tucked away under the stairs -- a map file and globe!

A second, even bigger globe! (I think this stand was about 4' tall)
