Harold Washington Library Center, Chicago Public Library - part 3

I haven't visited these pics in a while -- I was almost too embarrassed to share them because so many of them came out blurry. But still...

As you can see, the library center still has a good-sized music CD collection. I keep hearing about libraries cutting back, but it's good to see not everyone is.

I like the size and vivid color of that New Books sign in the background.
As graphic novels have spread out to include more adult- and more children-oriented fare, it was high time to move them to three separate locations. And yet...
Science fiction and fantasy still have to share the same shelves together? How is that fair?
I was so disappointed that the Riddler didn't jump out from behind this desk.
 More good, clear signage.
If this picture had come out better, you would have had quite a sight here.
What is going on with this children's library? These rooms were the least child-friendly children's department rooms I've ever seen.
I like this counter for several reasons. One, indented shelves along the side to hold fliers, so your fliers aren't scattered all over the countertop. Two, encouraging voter registration. Three, an article discussion group. I'd never heard of this before and I can't decide if it's brilliant because it caters to people who want to talk about very specific information, or if it's brilliant because it caters to people too busy to read books.
A mini-card catalog! If only it wasn't staff only, I could have found out what was in there...
