No, you're not dreaming about the Romeoville Branch of the White Oak Public Library. Nor was it foggy out on the morning I took this photo. Rather, there was a smudge on my lens that I didn't notice until long after I took these pictures. Ah well -- let's try to make the best of it and move on!
I'm afraid the sense of scale is poor on this photo and the next, but these are mid-size meeting rooms behind glass walls. The lack of privacy might discourage some programming participants, but these are down a side passage not well-traveled towards the staff rooms.
Keeping it simple, the rooms have generic names, plain chairs, plain markerboards, and that same kind of folding table you see at every library inside.
But this is pretty exciting. I'm not a fan of the Adventurers League, per se, but any D&D in the library is a good thing. And affiliating with the Adventurers League must give them access to cool art like this for advertising.
In the background is the same wall display monitor you see above. You can see how many handouts are all over this corner of the circulation desk, and the prominent placement of the display case (reserved for patron collections) right at the corner.
This photo was going to illustrate the trend of having quotes or sayings stenciled on library walls, but because of how the photo came out, I guess this will just be an example of good lighting. Sigh.
The interesting furniture in children's. Even the wall's color scheme matches the sense of whimsy.
The second patron display case. This is a great service to your community, letting them show off their stuff.
There is a large movie room decorated on three walls with movie posters both current and classic. I wonder if they were donations from a closing video store?
