One of the biggest things I was involved with before leaving my last public library gig was helping with a concert. I had previously seen the Harp Twins, Camille and Kennerly, perform at the Ella Johnson Memorial Library and the Wheaton Public Library and saw how they could pack a house. They brought a huge fanbase with them wherever they went, which is a great way to introduce your library to new people. Best of all, they were not only super-talented, and very funny on stage, but they were very friendly and caring towards their audience; in Wheaton, they had overflow audience listening from the hallway, and they asked us if they could go out and do a song for the hallway audience mid-concert. They do free meet-and-greets with their audience before and after concerts and stay however long people want to talk to them.
To show their appreciation for my initial recommendation, the Harp Twins signed one of our library posters and the library gave it to me as a gift. It seems they had really won over my library -- because I see they are coming back for a second annual concert in a few months!
