Life in Technicolor: a Celebration of Coldplay

Hmm, unusual glare on this photo...

Anyway, I started reading something new, and it's a fun music bio of a band that the Mrs. turned me onto early in our relationship. For an unofficial bio, it is extremely thorough, with interviews of the band, their friends, people they went to college with, people who went to their early concerts -- if you lived in England and happened to pass a member of Coldplay in the street once, there is a chance that Debs Wild and/or Malcolm Croft talked to you about it.

Music bios typically have photos of the band, and this is of course no exception, but there is a treasure trove of other images in here, like photos of ticket stubs from their first concerts, the pins that were made for their early fan club, and their instruments.

It's also quite an interesting story -- I wish twice as much time was spent talking about the early years of Coldplay (or The Coldplay, as they were originally called). I think it's fascinating how key industry people recognized their potential before they were good, and how hard the band then had to work to become good (one of them even needing to go back and take lessons), before they could finish their first album.

Excuse me, I think I need to go listen to some music...
