I only have a few "overflow" photos left I didn't share yesterday.
Although I am normally opposed to "sealing" off public areas of the library with doors, I don't mind there being that option in the form of a quiet reading room. Note the room has a fireplace, which is not only a nice feature to find in a library, but shares that motif with the main library and helps forge a connection of identity with it.
I have really enjoyed taking notice of the libraries who take advantage of their natural lighting to feed greenery within the building. This intersection looks so much more interesting and lively than if a bench was sitting there (and, indeed, the next aisle over has a bench at its intersection. I wish I'd taken a photo of it now for contrast).
You may have to enlarge this photo to read the "Poplar Creek Club Names Book Club" line at the top of the bench. I don't know the history of the Poplar Creek Club, but I wonder if they're a Friends of the Library-type organization. At first I was surprised to see this bench here and not at Poplar Creek Public Library, but realized Hoffman Estates has at least as big a claim to Poplar Creek as Streamwood has. Indeed, not far from this branch is Poplar Creek Bowl, Poplar Creek Trail, and of course, Hoffman Estates once had the Poplar Creek Music Theater!
