Wood Dale Public Library - part 2

Caution: These images are blurry and might give you a headache if you stare at them!

Here in the middle of the library is the DVD section. I've seen DVD sections be prominent before, but never right in the center.

School House Rock!  Woo!
Yesterday I showed you the Children's graphic novel area. This is the YA graphic novel area. I know this is blurry so you can't read the spines, but both of those shelving units up front are full of graphic novels. And that larger shelving unit in back on the left? More graphic novels. For a library this size, their collection is amazingly big.
Just to give you a taste of the range of the collection, this display shows collections from all three incarnations of Guardians of the Galaxy. If the only version on your library shelves looks like the characters from the movies, then you don't have the whole historical context for your patrons.
This is the audiobook corner. I share this not only to show off that they have an impressive audiobook collection, but I'm kind of proud of the composition of this shot. It's currently the screensaver on my phone (where it looks much better, on the small screen).

I've borrowed pens and pencils at libraries before, but I've never had to pay for them. I'm not sure how I feel about a vending machine for patrons to acquire these necessary products. I guess, if your patrons are walking out with a lot of those pens or pencils, this might be the way to go, but what library really loses a lot of money on pens...?

I'm also not sure about this one. I looked inside and it's not a "family" computer lab in the sense that there's a changing table for infants in it. I guess they felt uncomfortable putting "adult computer lab" on this sign because of the connotations of "adult," but most libraries just call it a computer lab.

This one didn't come out blurry for some reason; maybe because I was closer to the entrance again and its natural light?

I thought this was a good display for Day of the Dead. I don't know a lot about Day of the Dead, but I thought it was touching to dedicate the display to authors we have lost this year. I also appreciate the multimedia nature of the display, full of realia and CDs.

And this was my last pic before leaving, showing off some of the student artwork on display in the library. My old library used to host these every year, so it was good to see one again.
