I'm still showing off photos from my recent visit to the Theosophical Society and, really, I'm mostly just showing off how gorgeous the library is today.
Even if not all my photos were in focus...
...you can still see how the place is full of antiques. I wonder if a patron with a heavy bookbag prompted this note on the table.

I had to ask for help finding this shelf, the very small adult graphic novel section (interesting that Bone is up here, rather than downstairs). I was asked for recommendations and, while it won't be hard thinking of some comic books with spiritual themes, it will take longer to find out which ones are still in print.
The Theosophical Society has an unusual circulation policy; you cannot check out books directly at the library without being a society member, but you can request any books from your home library through interlibrary loan for free.
And, if I was looking to purchase a memento from my trip, they have library bookbags for sale right by the entrance/exit.
Thank you for coming to visit! It was nice meeting you and we hope you can come by again. I'm actually working on adding more to our adult graphic novel collection and have written your recommendation down.
ReplyDeleteJust one quick correction. You can check out books directly from our library if you are not a Society member. We have patrons who are members of the library only. It just so happens that a majority of our patrons are members of the Society since it's one of their membership perks. And of course, people can request any of our materials through interlibrary loan as well!

Thank you for correcting me, Ruby. I remember being told about that restriction and the workaround for it on a past visit, but it's either changed or I've misremembered. I should have double checked with you while I was there!
