The Dictionary of Art may be a little old now, but it's still a great resource -- both informative to read, but also beautiful to look at -- and I'm always glad to see these still on library shelves.
And I love seeing the full set of the Oxford English Dictionary on shelf. These people didn't skimp and get the short version!
Not one, but two dictionaries sitting out for easy reference. These are the classic elements of a library that people just enjoy seeing, whether they still use dictionaries or not.
Having a collection of realia is extra important when it is as practical as circulating umbrellas. I failed to get a picture of the circulating book bags they had as well.
As good as all of these elements so far were, they were still familiar elements that I had seen at other libraries I have reviewed already. Here, LVPL has tried branching out in brand new territory -- circulating virtual reality gear! I was hoping to find out what the circ stats figures are like so far on these items, as I'm very curious.
Some library space should always be reserved, not for the library's collections, but the communities. Here is a display case with a large private toy collection from some resident. And -- oops! It seems I got both myself and the Mrs. in the reflection!
My last picture of collections is this collection of computers. LVPL still has a separate computer lab, but there also more conveniently located computers in the main hallway connecting the regular collections and the Children's area (as you can see, I snapped the shot over guest02 computer in the hallway).
The only place in the library where I noticed they could use more space was this tiny teen corner. The legless chairs are perfect; I noticed at PCPL how teens liked playing video games from the floor more than normal chair level.
