Wheaton Public Library - part 2

Continuing to share photos I took in Wheaton Public Library...

That's right; WPL has enough elevators that they need to distinguish which elevator you're at (no, there's no North and South Elevators, just East and West).

There's no building map here next to the elevator, but you do get a very detailed directory.

Teens get this large Teen Space area with board game tables, lots of social gathering tables, and no doors on the teen area boxing them in and making them feel reigned in. This photo also displays the creative chalkboard pillars; this is only one of them.

WPL has one of the best coffee shops I've yet encountered in a library; the pastries are amazing. I really wanted a picture of the interior, but it was just too crowded. Luckily they have advertisements inside the rest of the library!

One of the best things about WPL is the view outside. WPL has a gorgeous park right next to it, as you can partially see here (sadly, the trees are too thick for you to see the central fountain).

The view of downtown Wheaton from the upstairs floor.

WPL values tradition. Here is a traditional dictionary stand!  I hope it still gets used.

Two decades' worth of Haines Directories, aka the crisscross phonebooks. If you have a patron who needs to look up an address to find out who lived there at a certain time -- this is the source you use to find out.  These directories cover Wheaton and the surrounding municipalities (mine is too far to be covered).

All that remains of WPL's reference collection?
