Wheaton College Library - part 1

During one of my drives through Wheaton, I made sure to visit Wheaton College; academic libraries have been underrepresented on my blog so far.

A little culture shock, after open access at so many public libraries. But it was not hard at all to sign-on and get a name tag and no one questioned me for being there.
It's interesting, the different ways different libraries approach charging stations. Some keep them surreptitious, with no signage, as if to deter too much demand for them. While Wheaton College Library definitely makes it a visible feature.
I was amused by this, surely the most private seat in the entire library. Good for students who don't like it when people try to read over their right shoulder specifically.
Something you never see in a public library -- but I like it! It was clearly not manned on the day I was there. I would like to see how busy a desk like this gets.
This was so exciting, seeing newspapers hanging on wooden dowels!  We used to have these at Aurora University Library, way back when I worked there, and I haven't seen anyone use them since. Delightfully nostalgic!
The modern amenities of the public lounge area. Those are some well-stocked vending machines for students who plan on staying indoors past meal times.

Also worth mentioning is that I've barely gone in far from the entrance to see everything I've taken pictures of, to this point. This is not a pushed-into-a-far-corner student lounge.
I love that they advertise these books are available online -- but that they still have the books!  Yes, it is vitally important that libraries hold on to different formats, as different options, for learners who learn better one way than from another.
