Could library 3D printers be used to make guns?

I have to confess, this question had not even occurred to me until I saw this article. Then I was happy to read further about 3D printers, the technical difficulties of printing a gun, and the good steps libraries are already taking to approve all printing plans and making it policy to not allow weapons.
