When I was on the strategic planning committee, I took the position that programming was going to be very important to the library's future. That every trip to the library needed to feel like a new event. Some of the suggestions I made were having a sports day, with a rented volleyball net set up in the meeting room, or a beach party day, with a big inflatable ball at the circ desk that could be bounced to patrons.
I'm glad the library has followed my advice in spirit, if not to the letter. A pie eating contest is an amazing idea. I'll be there, Poplar Creek Public Library!
