Chicago Public Library's Chicago history blog

Chicago Public Library has a whole eight bloggers, but my favorite is probably Michelle, "archivist, history buff, and intaglio printmaker. Michelle is a member of the Special Collections & Preservation Division at the Harold Washington Library Center."  She is not prolific, having only done seven posts in nearly three years, but she has a remarkable ability to take a subject like home repair and

1. Educate us with facts ("It's estimated that over 300,000 homes in Chicago were built before 1919.")
2. Covers a wide range of topics -- historical friezes, lead poisoning, and patent history -- yet manages to tie them all together to home repair, and
3. Makes you really want to see these special collections!
