Beginning Japanese

While at the Glenside Public Library, I think I saw the future of language learning. I have no illusions that I am going to be able to pick up Japanese from Beginning Japanese: Your Pathway to Dynamic Language Acquisition, but only because I spend too much of my free time on writing and can't devote enough time to this.

The multimedia approach of the CD-ROM is helpful, and you do need to hear the words to learn then, but that approach is not that much different from databases like Mango Languages. What is unique here is using comic strips to help explain context. And that the art on a book for Japanese looks like manga is doubly appropriate. I wonder if the strips in their Beginning French book will ape the styles of Moebius or Giraud...?

(P.S. This is my 100th post!)
