Bloomingdale Public Library

Today I went to the next furthest library from me, the Bloomingdale Public Library. It looks like a really small library from in front, but that's deceptive; there's two and a half floors to the place, with Children's being underground. Off to the left (as you're facing it) is some garden and benches that look really nice, and there is a gazebo on the grounds where they've started holding some concerts.

If you have a good eye for detail you might have noticed the roof is going to have some work done on it; there was a sign all about this out front.

There was a time when the most impressive part of the Bloomingdale Public Library was its movie collection. BPL was once said by some to be the "Blockbuster Video of libraries."  Of course, no one would want to compare themselves to Blockbuster Video these days, and BPL's collection of DVDs no longer appears impressive compared to its neighbors.

Now the best thing in the library is that they have their own local history room. I love local history, and I love museums, and htis room is a bit of both. Besides being useful for genealogy, it has a remarkable collection of realia items, some of which you can make out in this photo.

I spotted something pretty jaw-dropping in YA too -- a playable Nintendo Switch!  I wish I could hang out in the YA section for a day!

And that's not all!  It's like the library has picked me personally as its target audience and designed all their programming around me. Check out these monitor screen posters I found in the library!

I might be too old for this group, sadly...
I'm going to call up the library and see if I can get a reservation tonight!
